At its Third General Session, the Black River Falls High School Student Senate unanimously approved continuing sponsorship of a 13-year-old Tibetan student at the Tibetan Children’s Village in northern India.

This will mark the 10th year that the Student Senate has provided tuition help for Tibetan students associated with this particular school through Tibet Aid of New York.

Sponsorship director Kathleen Nolan of Tibet Aid was thrilled with the news. “We’re pleased that the BRFHS Student Senate continues this sponsorship and are interested in how you use the cross-cultural and comparative history aspects of indigenous people to help your students understand the story of people who are uprooted from their homelands.”

The Senate first provided sponsorship in 2008 under the leadership of President Rachel Colloton who years ago solicited funds from the Tiger Investment Club to make sponsorship a joint venture between the two organizations.
