Mary Grayce Madden, age 78, of Wautoma, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at Indian Creek. Father Robert Letona will officiate. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Bernard “Bernie” Edward Capaul (78) of Prairie du Chien, Wis., died peacefully in his sleep November 8, 2018, after a year of declining health.

Bernie was born March 27, 1940, to John Joseph and Anna (Clements) Capaul in Black River Falls, Wis. He grew up on the family’s farm in Alma Center and graduated Alma Center High School. He worked in food service for many years before opening his own restaurant in Marshfield, Wis. His generosity to the hungry and those in need was routine. Bernie valued hard work and an honest day’s effort and appreciated those who came to assist him with various needs in his later years when he lived in Stokke Tower, La Crosse, Wis. and then Prairie du Chien. He valued his faith and membership at Cathedral of St. Joseph parish in La Crosse, but also could readily raise a pint to toast a birthday, or ball game, or life-long or newly-formed friendship.

Eugene “Gene” E. Wachs, 83, of Arcadia, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.

Gene was born in Winona, Minnesota on March 8, 1935, to Elmer and Lisette (Koetz) Wachs. He graduated from Winona Senior High school in 1953. He received a BS in Business Education in 1957 and a Master’s Degree in Business in 1965 From Winona State. After completing six months of active duty training in 1957 through the National Guard, he started his first teaching position at Melrose, Wisconsin. In 1964, he married Romona Thomas of Arcadia. Gene and Mona then taught at Antigo High School before moving to Eau Claire where he taught business education subjects at North High School from 1966 until his retirement from teaching in 1990. Since 1990, Gene taught classes periodically for the Western Technical College.

As Executive Secretary, Gene coordinated the NWEA-Northwestern Wisconsin Education Association from 1974 until 2000.

Keith Z. Kirk, 64 of Tomah passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his home.

Funeral Services are pending. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah is assisting the family.

Phyllis (Obieglo) Moonen of Milwaukee, formerly of Arcadia went home to Jesus on October 21, 2018, at the age of 74, at her home in Milwaukee, WI.

She was born on June 15, 1944, in Arcadia to Roman and Angeline Obieglo.
She is survived by her loving children: Lisa, Lance (Tammy), James Moonen; siblings: Evadine (Maynard) Eide, Conrad “Butch” Obieglo both of Rushford, MN, Mary Jane Waniorek, Roger (Rose) Obieglo both of Milwaukee; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Delores, David, Caroline, Dale Obieglo; niece Leslie Moonen-Brown; special brother-in-law: Richard Waniorek.
Per her request no services were held.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 17, 2018, in Franklin, Wisconsin.
